My daughter told me about this place where all profits went to charity.  It reminds me of the charity my friends and I ran for the Deaf Ministry in Kenya, but on a bigger scale.

More than just a hangout place.

It all started with a dream to be able to help and sponsor great charities on an ongoing basis. So we thought of opening a “not-for-profit” cafe to raise funds and do some good in this world!

We will distribute our profits to: Habitat For Humanity (www.habitat.org.nz) and The A21 Campaign (www.thea21campaign.org).

We run the cafe with the assistance of a team of passionate and dedicated volunteers. With them, they bring energy and enthusiasm that money cannot buy.

This initiative is started by House of Praise Church of New Zealand which is established in November 2002, is a 100% volunteer-based church that has been run purely by passion! So volunteering is nothing new to us but we welcome you to join us, our motto is “if you can’t afford to donate money, why not donate your time!”

We are dedicated to make a difference in the community and believe through “ngopi” we are able to finally achieve this dream. So next time you are in the city and looking for a place to eat or buy a coffee think of “ngopi” knowing that you have made a difference with your beverage or meal purchase.

ngopi [ ngo-pee, ngo-pi ]
meaning:
1. an Indonesian term for drinking coffee
2. an invitation to get together, catch up and chat ("ngopi yuk!")
3. an informal meeting place either for business and/or with friends
